What changed
Anthropic introduced mods: TypeScript functions that hook into Claude Code events and can change prompts, tool calls, permissions, or parts of the interface. They ship inside plugins and work in both the CLI and desktop app.
The announcement describes hooks that run before, after, around, or instead of an event. Multiple mods are applied in load order, so composition matters. Anthropic also states that mods are not sandboxed and run with Claude Code's access to the machine. Existing plugin administration controls apply; managed environments have additional restrictions described in the announcement.
What it means for your workflow
SaveMyToken editorial take
A mod can package a repeated workflow adjustment into a reusable extension. Review its code and event ordering, especially when it changes tool output or approval behavior.
